Hey there sports fans. Kokanee Coates is on a bit of a roll with game of the week picks. This is EXACTLY what you want as you move later into the season towards playoffs. Indeed, it took a me a little while to get my feet under, get my systems implemented, attain buy-in from key individuals, gain a better understanding of my emotional self while picking games and most important, started drinking chocolate milk after workouts just like the commercial says to.
This week’s game features the Patriots visiting the Windy City to take on the Bears. I picked this game for a few reasons:
1 Tom Brady is a beauty and I like to watch him play
2 Patriots vs Bears = 10-2 vs 9-3 football teams
3. I hate Jay Cutler.
Some say its misguided to pick with your emotions instead of your brain but, when you are dealing with Tom Brady its a good play. Take the Patriots to win convincingly and Cutler to throw 4 picks. What a plug.
It’s been a while since I wrote about my journey through the Global Management Trainee program and after meeting a GMT’er from the recently hired 2011 class this past Friday, I figured now is a great time to share some of my thoughts and experiences from the last few weeks.
The GMT crew is back in La Belle Province in our final field training at the Montreal and Quebec City sales offices. As I just mentioned, this past Friday Bob, Becky, Steve and I met Jack, one of the 4 new hires for the class of 2011. Jack sat in on a conference call we were having with the other 2010 trainees discussing the progress on a project we have all been working on since we arrived in Quebec. Jack seems like a stand up guy and a great hire however; I couldn’t imagine how shell-shocked he must have been leaving the office. Why would an intelligent guy like Jack be so-called shell-shocked leaving the office? Here’s an example of one part of our discussion:
If you turn to tab 3 on the PDCA tool spreadsheet, you’ll see a pareto of the top 25 SKU’s and the percentage of total sales that it represents for each executed POC in the Labatt Rewards Program pilot. Moving to tab 3.2 you’ll see the fishbone tool that we need to build and analyze for next week’s presentation to Ricardo (VP of Sales for Labatt).
4 months ago that conversation could have been in another language as it would have meant nothing to me. Fast forward to that meeting and all 7 GMT’s were all on the same page and knew exactly what we needed to do. Going into this program I knew that it was going to be an incredible learning experience. However, I never in my wildest dreams could have imagined that I have learned as much I have. From learning how to make beer to how we sell it and everything in between, this program has been incredible. As we wind down the field training portion of the program I am excited by how much I have learned but, also how much I still have to learn. After the Christmas break, we will be heading to St Louis to meet up with the USA GMT’s to conclude the training portion of the program then in February get into our 6 month project. I am definitely looking forward to putting all this learning to work and delivering some great results for this great company.
The snow has finally arrived, along with December. We are only 3 weeks away from Christmas and 1 day away from what could be the game of the year. The 9-2 Patriots host the 9-2 Jets at Foxburough. Tom Brady vs Mark Sanchez. High flying offense against hard nose defense.
Kokanee Coates is looking to capitalize on the moment gained from last week’s win. I am picking the Patriots to defend home turf and come out with a big W. Win or lose it should be a great game.
Bring it in. Quick post for this week’s game of the week as I am in great need of a lie down after the devastation that just took place at a local diner for a good ol’ fashioned Sunday morning breakfast. This week’s game features Atlanta hosting the Packers. I am taking the Falcons to win at home. So considering my superb record in game of the week picks, it’s likely Green Bay will win. Take it for what it is. Kokanee Coates OUT.
Hey there sports fans. The Canadian GMT crew has arrived in Montreal, raring to go for another great sales training experience. However, before the rubber hits the road in Quebec there is a heck of a football game you can’t miss this Sunday. Michael Vick and the Eagles face off against division rivals Giants. Vick has been ridiculous this season including one of the greatest single game performances in history last Monday. In case you missed it, here are some of the highlights.
ridiculous! How can I not pick him to win this week after a game like that. I’m takin the Eagles!
Ahhhhh, you hear that? Yeah, that’s the sweet smell of success. Yours truly (world’s worst NFL picker) finally got back into the win column last week. Was it the two motivational video’s I posted? Or was it the extra time in the gym?
Neither really make any sense in terms of contributing to picking a correct game but, let’s run with it shall we?
Anyways, back to the matter at hand. Week 10 brings a dooozie under the lights on Sunday night. Steelers host the Patriots in what could be one of the games of the year. I’m taking the Steelers with their D at home. Should be a great game.
Another week and chalk up another loss for Kokanee Coates. I told my fellow GMT and avid NFL fan, Steve, about my dismal record of picking a game of the week game. He told me that I shouldn’t be allowed to post my opinion on any game of any kind on the internet with a record of 1-7. This could be true but, thank god its a free country!
What I think I need is a sports montage of some kind to get me through this rough patch and on to glory.
OR maybe I just need to go a little more mainstream like Mr. Beamen.
